Starting Point

The development of learning programmes and the expansion of the list of courses presented the client with a challenge, since the existing website was not designed for the volume of the content, which had increased significantly. New applications and documents were also created as needed and the whole page eventually became less navigable.

Therefore the website needed a redesign in a way that would allow both occasional and regular visitors to quickly find key information – for example course structure, locations and dates of courses, contact details of lecturers, etc. At the same time, we needed to anticipate the future addition of new courses and information’s volume growth.

Design Process

I used wireframes to define the basic structure of the different types of subpages, depending on the intended content. We used a prototype to test the response to the redesigned site, which was well received.

A typical subpage for a single course includes an overview of workshops/skills within a training series. It consists of a main content, usually text and tables/photos, with key information such as contacts and dates of delivery highlighted on the side.

Using the existing graphitic design guidelines for print materials, I visual guideline, I designed both creative guidelines for the website (for the production of photos, video content, etc.) as well as tips for completing/expanding the content of previously deficient pages.

As a UX/UI designer, I wrote the design brief and drew both wireframe and prototype. With the latter, I presented the easiest way to how to apply the creative guidelines in practice and gave reasons why it would be a good idea to follow them. Over time I helped the front-end team to draw and implement additional solutions.
