The client wanted to upgrade their member’s user experience – which starts with booking a tee time. They also wanted to offer their members as much information as possible regarding the club, upcoming events, the current golf course condition and the possibility to edit their profile, including payments and documents.
The design of the app had to follow the new design of the website, which was being developed separately at the same time.
After considering the user's paths of booking tee time, the process of playing golf and participating in club activities, the wireframes were drawn and coordinated in several stages. This way we were able to get as close as possible to the user's expectations and needs on one hand and the expected level of service on the other. At the same time, good practices were researched and presented, which offered us new solutions to the various challenges that arose on an ongoing basis.
Finally, an application was designed and successfully tested, thus achieving all the objectives.
Upon entering the app, the user is provided with the current course conditions and a list of upcoming tee times. In the navigation at the bottom of the screen, the user can choose between:
Special focus was on designing tee times, showing the relevant information and management options (cancellation, ordering additional services).
Booking a new tee time can be done in just a few steps:
When the tee time is successfully created, other participants are notified via notification on their home screen.
As a UX/UI designer, I wrote the design brief, drew the user journeys, and researched both the competition as well as the similar app trends. Using wireframes and prototypes, me and my team worked through the challenges that arose along the way. By the end of this phase, the outlines of the final design were solidified, upon which I applied the visual design guidelines.
Along the way, I worked closely with both the front-end team that was implementing the website design as well as the apps back-end team. This gave me an even better insight into application programming and how to prepare the app's design for implementation.
